Alexis Teplin was born in California. She received her BA from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1998 and her MFA from Art Center College of Design in Pasedena in 2001. She was the recipient of the Starr Foundation Scholarship at the Royal Academy Schools 2002/3.
