Andrew was the illegitimate son of Andrew Rankin and Elizabeth Baldry, and was successively apprentice, partner and successor in the general painting business of Joshua's godfather, Joshua Kirby (1716-1774) [q.v.], after whom he was named, and trained his own sons Joshua and Robert.

This looks very much like it could be my G5-grandfather, Andrew Baldrey, who was buried at Ipswich St Margaret on May 19, 1802. Andrew married Mary (name and date not yet known) and their daughter Susannah (1760-1839) married my G4-gf John Acfield (1753-1802) in 1781 at Ipswich St Margaret. I see that Susannah is a common Baldry female name.
