May 25, 2008 · Anna Weber, folk painter, fraktur artist (b in Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pa 3 June 1814; d in Woolwich Twp, Waterloo County, Ont 12 Oct 1888). Weber immigrated to UC in 1825 and, following the death of her parents, moved from one Mennonite family to another until her own death.

As a woman fraktur artist, Anna Weber was an anomaly in her Pennsylvania-German Mennonite community. She arrived in Waterloo County in 1825 where her family began farming and her father was ordained as a minister.
