Born on 5 December 1806 in Strood, Kent, Anne was the second of three daughters of grocer Robert Pratt. As a child, she was sickly and would sit and draw while her sisters played.

Anne Pratt (1806 - 1893) was a botanical illustrator from Kent in England. Due to poor health she occupied herself by drawing. She became one of the best known botanical illustrators of the Victorian era. Anne wrote more than 20 books, illustrated with chromolithographs of her own artworks.
