    ARTIST PROFILE. David Silverberg's story is as colorful as his prints. After studying at McGill University in Montreal to become a geophysicist, Silverberg chose to pursue a career as an artist instead. As a youth he had taken art classes with Arthur Lismer and had won an art scholarship. In 1958 he went to Paris to further his studies in art.

    David Silverberg was born in Montreal in 1936. As a young child, he studied under Group of Seven master Dr. Arthur Lismer. In 1957, he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from McGill University. Later that year, he studied etching and engraving with William Hayter at Atelier 17 in Paris.
