    Doug was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, June 8, 1930. He earned a BFA from Oklahoma State University and an MS from the University of Wisconsin. He served as an officer in the United States Army. He moved to Flint in 1958 to join the faculty of Mott Community College where he was an art instructor for 35 years. He married Patty Price in 1981.
