Jul 22, 2013 · Artist Point is about a half mile down the Old Wawona Road, or about 1.5 miles up the road if you left from the Bridalveil Fall parking lot. We saw a bear on the way down – it’s nice to know that the road is still used by some. It ran away from us very quickly. You’ll know you’re at Artist Point when you’re in a big exposed rock outcropping, and/or you see the USGS benchmark placed in 1906.

Aug 09, 2017 · Artist’s Point PS; Oddly enough, even though Artist’s Point is the ‘new’ hot spot, it actually is older than Tunnel View which didn’t exist until 1933 when the Wawona tunnel opened. However, back in 1855, artist Thomas Ayres stood at Artist’s Point and drew a picture of Yosemite Valley that as was published in California Magazine.
