Feb 24, 2016 · All with Artist and Contributing Artist set. All of them have album covers embedded in the .mp3 files. Half of the mp3's show up as Unknown artist while others show up as black album covers. I have verified that the correct information is there with MP3Tag. Windows Media player has so many bugs in it. Its almost unusable.

Nov 06, 2016 · After I did that -- and then dragged the MP3's into my "Music" Folder onto my Micro SD card on my phone -- it appeared on my phone without the "Unknown Album" - "Unknown Artist" showing up as "Liza Minnelli" -- "Liza - The Jam Sessions" and is in alphabetical order. Problem solved.

May 23, 2013 · The songs have artists when you look on iTunes but when they are synced to my iPod some songs show as "unknown artist" "unknown album" when the song is playing and when you look it up under the songs tab on the iPod itself. I have changed the artist on iTunes under the "get info" tab to say the right artist. I'm completely stumped.

Jun 15, 2012 · The basic problem here is that iTunes use ID3v2.4 tags, Windows (and WMP) uses ID3v2.3 tags and can't read ID3v2.4. So if you update the tags with iTunes and then add those tracks to WMP they're going to show up as "Unknown Artist". This is always going to cause problems if you try to use both iTunes and WMP libraries at the same time.

Mar 20, 2010 · When Windows Media Player can't read a song's meta data correctly, it lists it under "Unknown Artist." When I right click the generic album picture and select "Find album info," a new window appears where I can enter the artist's correct name. However, changing the name from Unknown Artist to the correct name accomplishes nothing.
