The Artists Village (TAV) is a contemporary art group in Singapore started by prominent artist Tang Da Wu in 1988 at the rural Lorong Gambas in Sembawang district. He enabled like-minded artists to critically relook and examine existing assumptions, values and concepts of art-making in Singapore.
Art Village is an independent art gallery and studio, as well as an academy for all ages. Found in the year 2014 by Myanmar and Singapore based artist Mrs. Nyein Su, our aim is to inspire both children and adults to love art and do art in an environment comprised of professional art, where students are able to learn from professional artists.

More so than the Society of Chinese Artists and Modern Art Society, the Artists Village was a dynamo in fostering alterity in Singapore as the artists lived and worked together in a close community. At its height, the Village attracted some 35 artists to live and work in Sembawang with some 50 others participating in its exhibitions.
