    Banks Violette (American, b.1973) is a painter and sculptor known for his often dark-mixed media works. Violette was born in Ithaca, NY, and earned his BFA at New York's School of the Visual Arts in 1998. He began showcasing in group exhibitions in New York in the late 1990s, while he was in college, and went on to earn an MFA from Columbia University in 2000.
