artist’s statement My current practice concerns architecture as an emblematic form. Paintings evolve out of several stages of production, with preparatory drawing, the collection of photographs and the construction of fictitious collaged spaces, in the development of canvases, which are usually large-scale and built up in layers.

Benet Spencer will talk about Collision Drive, a multi-stage co-curated project hosted in three venues in the UK and Australia in 2019. Addressing the relationship between painting and collage, Collision Drive focusses on the discourse within contemporary painting that engages with the use of collections of found images as a source for generating new artwork.
