Brian Stratton OAM. Born Sydney, Australia 1936. Residence and Studio 67kms from Sydney in rural Bringelly NSW, Australia. Left school at the age of 15 and for the next 10 years was employed in the printing industry. At 15 enrolled in part time evening classes of drawing and composition conducted by National Art School.

Elected a member of the Australian Watercolour Institute in 1961 and made a Life Member in 1989, Brian Stratton served as AWI President 1964-1972 and 2006-2009. He became a Fellow of the Royal Art Society of New South Wales in 1964 and was a Foundation Member of the City of Ryde Art Society in 1959, served as President from 1962 to 1969 and became a Life Member in 1968.
