Artist Bio Shen holds a M.F.A. in Painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. He currently teaches art at Holland Hall Upper School in Tulsa, Oklahoma and loves the positive, transformative element that art possesses.

About the Artists: Shen was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He received a B. A. in English and Writing from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania and an M.F.A. in Painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

A recurring theme in Byron Shen's art is the horizon, a visual metaphor that implies an odyssey or trek that has yet to end. Many of the artist's works depict landscape vistas, with the eye drawn to a mesa or an image shrouded in a haze. It's the view of a traveler, who has yet to reach the goal in the distance.

Currently, Shen is teaching art at the Upper School at Holland Hall, an independent college preparatory school in Tulsa, OK. He is the Judith '57 and Jean '29 Pape Adams Master Teacher Chair in the Arts at Holland Hall and has been there for twenty plus years.
