    CHRISTINE HELLYAR, born 1947 New Plymouth Hellyar graduated Diploma of Fine Arts (Hons) from Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland, in 1969. She taught at Elam from 1981 to 1996, during which time she was awarded the first Adam Award for her significant contribution to New Zealand art, leaving there to work full time in her studio.

    Christine Hellyar is regarded as one of the country's foremost sculptors. Since 1973 she has exhibited widely both in New Zealand and Australia. Born in New Plymouth she graduated with a Dip F.A. (Hons) from the University of Auckland in 1969. She also spent some time in Christchurch attending the Christchurch Teachers College.
