Conn 8B Lightweight Artist. Date: 1966. Owned by Paul Ayick. Notice the "wide" wrap. The 8B is similar to the 6B Victor. The differences are in the bell, which is smaller on the 8B (4 5/8" as opposed to the 6B's 5 1/8") and the lack of a coprion leadpipe which later 6B's were equipped with.

Apr 04, 2004 · The 60s Conn 8B "Artist" trumpet was lightweight (for a Conn), came in lacquer or bright silverplate, had a .438" bore (most Conns were that bore size in the 60s) and a small bell. It was great for combo jazz, and yes, Lee Morgan did play the 8B, and not the 6B "Victor."

Sep 04, 2019 · 8B artist is the later 8B and is like the 36b connstellation. Same bell same bracing same bore and slides. BTW the connstellation bells were not electroformed copper bells. just regular brass spun bells and then nickel plated with a flash coat of copper to make the nickel stick. The nickel plating is thick and tough and has a great sound.
