Conn 4H Artist Special. Date: 1940. Owned by William Janning. Here is one seriously rare trombone. This is a 4H Artist Special. In excellent condition, with original lacquer by the looks of it (you can usually tell by the color). The 4H Special was, according to the model number list, built between 1939 and 1941. However, I have been contacted by someone who owns a 1934 model.

The trombone is a musical instrument in the brass family. Like all brass instruments, sound is produced when the player's vibrating lips (embouchure) cause the air column inside the instrument to vibrate. Nearly all trombones have a telescoping slide mechanism that varies the length of the instrument to change the pitch.
