Daven describes himself as an ‘urban realist’, painting life as he sees it on the city’s streets. Dave is essentially self-taught spending only one year in a twice weekly evening open painting session at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. A long time Chicagoan and only moving to St. Louis in 2006 Dave is fascinated by urban life.

Daven teaches ‘for credit’ studio art/watercolor classesin the College of Fine Art at the University of Missouri Saint Louis and day and evening watercolor classesmonthly in his studio in Lafayette Square, St. Louis. He also teaches two and three day workshops regularly through out the country.

Aug 11, 2019 · Last Light by Daven Anderson LAST LIGHT, pictured above, resulted from one of my many trips aboard line boats pushing barges, full and empty, on our nation’s many navigable waterways. The series is now 59 paintings long and shows scenes from the Port of LA to Maine.
