Dixie (Mrs. John L.) Cooley Dixie Cooley was born in Hartwell, Georgia in 1896. She studied at the Gibson-Mercer Academy, the University of Chattanooga under Frank Baidsden and at the Art Students League in New York with Alexander Brook and Yasuo Kuniyoshi. She also studied art at Newcomb College in New Orleans.
