Jun 04, 2020 · Back in the 1980s, Donald Rodney was a key figure in the BLK Art Group that emerged in Britain’s Midlands: an abundance of talent also involving Eddie Chambers, Marlene Smith, Keith Piper and associated contemporaries such as Sonia Boyce, Tam Joseph and Lubaina Himid. Rodney was just thirty-six when he died of sickle cell disease in 1998.
