Dorus Arts was born in 1901. He took lessons at the studios of Gorter, Jan Toorop, Van Vucht Tijssen, and Jurres. With these masters he perfected his talent for drawing, etching and painting. He belonged to a group of painters in Nijmegen called "In Consten Een", who were active in the first part of this century.
