Doug Allen was born in Jersey City, NJ in 1935. He studied under W. J. Aylward (Howard Pyle pupil) at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts and later with Paul Bransom in Jackson, WY. Over the years his work has been influenced by artists he has admired such as Howard Pyle, N. C. Wyeth, W. R. Leigh, Carl Rungius and Frederic Remington.
