    Miss Effie, as she was known, stayed in Guelph and made a glowing career in the arts, best known as a painter of magnificent flower studies. A sculptor in wood and an expert china painter, an art she taught, she turned to painting in oils. By 1952 she had completed some 1,500 paintings and was honoured with an exhibition of her work in Toronto.
