James and Eleanor Avery work both individually and collaboratively, and have been collaborating on large scale sculpture and installation projects, including commissioned public art projects, since 2004. The suspended aluminium work greets hotel guests at the entrance of the luxury hotel The Darling at The Star. The purpose of the work is to bring life and energy to the site through positive symbolism.

Collaborative artists James and Eleanor Avery created a suspended artwork as the central focal point in the M+A laneway, leading pedestrians through the space and provoking the feeling of an urban lounge room. The artists describe the work as a reinterpretation of a decorative deer’s head, complete with antlers and an ornamental moulding ‘ceiling rose’ inspired by natural forms.
