artist's statements May 2014. A trip to Australia last year was very inspiring, with bold shapes, strong shadows and very high hue colours. I saw rain evaporating before hitting the ground, rocks the colour of fire at dusk, vast trees with curving buttress roots and thick ropes of vines pushing up to the light.

She married in the Blyth district of Suffolk in 1976, Oliver Hugh Knowland, a Suffolk farmer, and paints under the name of Eleonora Knowland.
