Alfred A. Farland began building banjos in New York City in 1890. His highly prized instruments are a superb example of turn-of-the-century artistry. The exquisite appointments of this fine example include inlays of mother-of-pearl, abalone, and snail shell in Victorian style designs on the fret board and both the front and back of the peg head.
