Fernando Prats Estévez nació en 1967 en Temuco, Chile. En 1990 se trasladó a vivir a Barcelona, España, donde realizó estudios de pintura en la Escola Massana hasta 1993; de regreso a Chile en 1996, obtuvo el grado de Licenciado en Arte en la Universidad de Chile. Posteriormente, cursó estudios de posgrado en pintura en la Universidad de Barcelona hasta el año 2000.
