    Fiber Artists of Oklahoma, formerly the Hand Weavers League of Oklahoma, was formed in 1976 by a group of hand weavers who first met in Norman, Oklahoma. Officers were elected, by-laws were written, and the first newsletter was published. In 1978, the organization initiated Fiberworks, a major juried fiber art show that has since become an annual event.
