    Dumais created her first works for NBC choreographic workshops and then, outside the company, for Dances for a Small Stage and fFIDA (fringe Festival of Independent Dance Artists). The first of Dumais' works taken into the NBC repertoire was a commission from Karen Kain, a pas de deux premiered by Kain and Robert Conn called Tides of Mind (1996).
