    This is the first large-scale retrospective of Fukuda Heihachiro (1892-1974) in quite some time. Fukuda, who is an awardee of the Order of Culture, was born in the city of Oita and relocated to Kyoto with the goal of becoming a painter. After having studied at the Kyoto City School of Arts, he remained in Kyoto and continued his activities there.
