Oct 19, 2014 · The Great Artiste was named for bombardier Capt Kermit Beahan, who supposedly was quite skilled with the ladies, and with putting bombs on target. The nose art, though, was added to the plane after the Nagasaki mission.

The Great Artiste The Great Artiste was named for its bombardier, Captain Kermit Beahan, in reference to his bombing talents. It was the only aircraft to participate in both the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as an observation aircraft on each mission.
