Heather Jones was born in Perth, Western Australia in 1941 and started painting at the age of 10 under the tutelage of her father Norman McGow. The latter was an art teacher and a keen water-colour artist. Norm and Heather spent much quality time together in those early years fostering a close relationship between father and daughter.
