Nov 27, 2007 · A friend of mine has an Arthur Hensel Artist acoustic guitar that belonged to his father. From what I have gathered on the net Arthur Hensel was a small time builder in Toronto Canada during the 30's and 40's. His guitars were made from all solid woods, (Adironack tops, brazilian boards and bridges, mahogany sides and backs).

This one, like most Hensels, is an X-braced 12 fretter, built of solid Canadian Spruce and Maple.

Jun 13, 2020 · Pre-War Hensel Imperial Artist. These Hensel Guitars from the 1930’s are absolutely spectacular. This one too needed a lot of work. This is the before picture, and looks alright, but in the pictures that follow you can really see the defects.

Apr 26, 2006 · Arthur Hensel changed his name to Hansell (possibly a misprint for Hansel) around 1936 when he was listed in the Toronto directory as a "violin maker" at 149 Mutual. Previously he was listed as Hensel, either an "instrument maker" or initially, in 1933, as a "violin maker." Does this make 1936 the cut-of date for Hensel instruments?

About This Listing. R.S. Williams and Sons Parlor Guitar. Bought this from a guy on Gbase who was less than honest and ghosted me after purchasing and didn't get much help from GBase in the aftermath. Guitar itself is in fantastic condition and sounds amazing I just don't like how the action changes so much from the 1st position to the 12th fret.

Nov 15, 2013 · 1930's Hensel Artist Far and away the best kept secret in vintage guitars are the instruments built for Toronto-based R.S. Williams & Co. by the enigmatic Canadian builder Arthur Hensel during the 1920's though 1940's. We really know very little about Hensel, but come across his instruments semi-regularly around here.
