May 14, 2017 · (Highlight the album and select File/Get Info/Options and set Part of a Compilation to "No". If it is - and - if you have Compilations set to "on" in the Music menu on your iPod, then the artist will not show up. (Yes, it's weird!) The solution is to turn off the Part of a Compilation flag for this album in iTunes and then sync the iPod to iTunes.

Jun 13, 2008 · As you might expect, if the “Compilations” menu is shown, then the iPod will group tracks by compilation and exclude these artists from the “Artists” list. If the “Compilations” menu is hidden, then naturally the “Part of a Compilation” flag is ignored. The iPhone and iPod touch do not have a “Compilations” setting.

1 Besides the Compilation checkbox, look under the Sorting tab. The songs are probably configured with sort artist as "various artist". Clear that field for all of the tracks and they will default back to the appropriate artist value.
