Compilation albums have an Album Artist of Various Artists and are listed at the end of the Cover Flow list, after albums by artists with numbers. Oct 23, 2007 · I don't think you can change the sort order in Cover Flow on the iPod, but you can fix the problem with compilations. The Album Artist field allows you to specify the nominal artist for the album. For compilations you could use "Various" or "Various Artists". Cover Flow will use the Album Artist field in preference to the Artist field.

Dec 06, 2009 · My itunes 9 easily sorts the albums on cover flow by "albums", "albums by artist", and "albums by year". However, my ipod classic does not do this. It only sorts by artist, resulting in many repetitions of the same cover (i.e. 500 days of summer soundtrack now shows up 16 times in the cover flow). This is madness. It used to sort by album and only have it pop up once, just like my itunes.

Feb 10, 2008 · Under the cover-flow view - make sure you're sorting by album - if you sort by album artist or track name then it appears to have multiples - sorting by album alone should limit the cover-flow to one image per album (as long as iTunes knows that these songs make up 1 album (only an issue if you've downloaded music from other sources - can be fixed - ask for more info if needed)).
