We tried to get here in mid June but the road was closed just past Picture Lake. Based on earlier reviews it seems the best time to go is July. The drive up to this point was amazing, can't imagine how great the views from artists point must be.5/5(25)

This is an easy place to get to by driving north on the Grand Loop road and turning off onto the Rim Road. Drive to the end of the Rim Road. There will be a long parking lot. From there walk down the path at the end to the viewing point. It is less than 100 yards down a good slope (all paved) and then turn around.
