She participated in many botanical art exhibitions and had a solo exhibition at Kew in 1990. She was also a warded the Jill Smythies Award for excellence in botanical illustration by the Linnean Society in 1992. This particular painting exemplifies one of the main ways which Dr Sherwood supports botanical art.

She has attended many Masterclasses in Botanical Art given by well-known artists such as Josephine Hague and Pandora Sellers. She is a member of the Society of Botanical Artists and exhibits in its exhibitions, in London. Her paintings have been included at the Palmengarten exhibitions in Frankfurt and at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.

9th International Exhibition of Botanical Art & Illustration. 12 October 1998 – 26 February 1999 This exhibition contained 109 artworks by 76 artists from 11 countries (Brazil, Canada, China, England, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa and the United States), including loans from the Japan Association of Botanical Illustration and individuals throughout the world.
