BIOGRAPHY. Juan Raul Hoyos was born in the town of Bolívar, department of Antioquia, Colombia in 1962. Between 1981 and 1984, he studied fine arts. at the Medellín branch of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. At the beginning of the 1980´s he moved to Bogotá, where he worked for four years as an assistant to the Colombian photographer Dora Franco.
