Julia works in plein air using oils to catch the quickly changing light and shadows of the Bay Area hills where she lives. She paints the landscapes of Northern California and the rural country side of the central coast, the colors and patterns are a her source of inspiration.

Julia Munger Seelos. Julia paints in oils in an expressive impressionistic style, capturing the landscapes of the American West. Always knowing she wanted a career in art, she attended Rhode Island School of Design, University of Cincinnati and San Jose State, where she majored in Illustration. After a successful career managing an international retail design team Julia switched to painting full time.

Julia worked for years in retail design doing everything from designing logo tee shirts to surf shops. She feels lucky now to devote herself full time to painting and teaching.
