This is a list of painters of Saint Petersburg Union of Artists (founded 2 August 1932 as the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists, since 1959 named as the Leningrad branch of Union of Artists of Russian Federation. Nine of Elena’s drawings, engravings on cardboard and lithographs from her ‘Leningrad and Leningraders’ series, including her portrait ‘Facing death’ from February 1942 are currently on display at the St Petersburg Union of Artists as part of the ‘Dedication to besieged Leningrad’ art exhibition which features selected pieces only by living artist-veterans who personally experienced the siege.

On August 2, 1932 the Leningrad Union of Soviet Artists was officially born and ushered in an era of Soviet art. The first chairman was the painter Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, whose famous painting of a flying red horse became the symbol of the new Soviet Russia.

Vladimir Gorb was a member of the Leningrad Union of Artists since 1937. In 1930-1979 Vladimir Gorb taught in Secondary Art School and Repin Institute of Arts, professor of painting (1972-1979). In 1970 he was awarded the honorary title of the Honored Art Worker of Russian Federation. Vladimir Alexandrovich Gorb died in Leningrad in 1988.
