In the 17 th year of the Margaret Flockton Award for Scientific Botanical Illustration, our connection to artists from all over the world is keenly felt. 63 artworks were sent to us in February – a larger representation than any previous year. From Norway to Spain, the UK to the USA, Thailand to Bulgaria, 46 artists from 21 countries submitted works in a time before the world paused.

Deborah Lambkin wins Margaret Flockton Award 2020. Irish botanical illustrator Deborah Lambkin, who works in the UK as the RHS Orchid Artist, has won the Margaret Flockton Award 2020 for the scientific botanical illustration of a new orchid. Unusually this year the announcement of the prizewinners was made by Denise Ora, the Executive Director of the Royal Botanic Sydney via video (see below).
