    The Great River Chapter was formed in 2002 under the leadership of Marilyn Garber, founder and director of the Minnesota School of Botanical Art (MSBA). She called an initial meeting in November, 2002, where the chapter was formed, officers chosen, and a goal was adopted to organize the ASBA annual conference in Minneapolis in 2005.
