Marsha Pels earned a BFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1972 and completed her MFA in sculpture in 1974 at Syracuse University, NY. In 1984-85, she was awarded the Prix de Rome for Sculpture from the American Academy in Rome, Italy.

Brooklyn-based Marsha Pels was one of the first sculptors on the RAS client roster. In 2001, for Pels’s show "The Hitler Vitrines" we cast "Romance" and "Power" in red and black crystal, respectively. The original models for the latter were WWII Gestapo boots.
