Sep 30, 2011 · Low Profile vs Performing Artist necks? So I've seen all of the charts and pictures, and played both necks on Martins, but I can't tell which one is thicker/meatier. I have some trouble with barre chords on low profile necks because I find them to be too thin and my thumb has to use more force against the back of the neck.

Definitely inspired by some of Martin’s competitors offerings, the Performing Artist neck is about as close as you can have an electric guitar neck slapped onto an acoustic body.

May 30, 2019 · The Performing Artist neck, taper, profile, or taper on a mod low profile (really don’t follow whatever it is) is the main reason thwt I haven’t purchased a new Martin a very long time. Any slight nuances or variations on these super slender necks and reverse geometry are just not playable to me and honestly baffle me.

There have been a few special models that have the Performing Artist profile that were not in the PA Series and have the full dovetail neck joint etc. The PA profile being a bit flatter and shallower than the Modified Low Oval Profile, even though the "taper" of the fingerboard from the 1-3/4" nut to the 2-1/8" 12th fret is the same.

Nov 10, 2007 · Henk, I currently have a 0000-28H custom that was ordered by Eric Schoenberg in 2001 with a low oval neck - feels a lot fatter than a low profile, but no V at all. It is more of a rounded shape. A C shape tends to be flatter on the bottom with most of the rounding at the sides - I don't believe Martin makes that one - at least I've never seen one.
