Martin Pierce Unique & Limited Edition Art Collection

Martin Pierce’s Art. The Art section of this site is focused primarily on Martin’s imaginative depiction of insects, be they in sculpture or in oil paintings. This is a work in progress that is, at last, being brought together as a body of art work. Our hope is that the site will evolve slowly as much of the work involves telling a story that is yet to conclude.

Under his father’s tutelage, Martin Pearce threw his first pot at age 10. The experience stayed with him and even though he later trained in and practiced interior design, he soon returned to clay. The development of form is at the root of his work; the interplay of shape and surface creating the individual character of a piece.

Like the sculpture of Jean Arp, Martin Pearce’s intriguing and richly suggestive work has an amorphic, nebulous quality. It alludes to both bodily forms and shapes in the landscape, from folds in hills and mountains to stones and bones seemingly smoothed by water and wind, the continually transforming structures of cloudscapes. Built up in slabs…

Martin Pearce – Border Crossings Magazine

    https://bordercrossingsmag.com/article/martin-pearce1
Visually noisy yet neutral in tone, the 11 abstract non-compositions that make up Guelph-based artist Martin Pearce’s “Mud and Iron” seem to long for the palliative, soft-on-the-eyes aesthetic of an off-white wall. Up close, though, the futility of that longing emerges in the violent traces of Pearce’s process, by which paint and encaustic wax have not only been dabbed and brushed into ...
