MARY BAILLIE was born in Glasgow, and now lives in South Lanarkshire. Always a keen amateur artist, a turning point was submitting a work entitled ‘Return of the Blueblack Hussar’ for the Royal Academy’s summer exhibition in 2013. The work was accepted by the RA and shown, and included in the illustrated catalogue of selected works.

Oils, gold leaf, circuit boards and steel washers (H) 76cm (W) 51cm . Primarily painted in oils, gold leaf and metallic paints, however circuit boards and steel washers have also been applied. The work is painted as an icon representing our worship of technology at the expense of many of our human traits.
