    Mary Fedden, OBE (14 August 1915 – 22 June 2012) was a British artist. Sometimes mistakenly described as the daughter of Roy Fedden (who was in fact her uncle, as was Romilly Fedden), Mary Fedden was born in Bristol where she attended the city's Badminton School.     Artist biography. Mary Fedden was born in Bristol and wanted to be a painter even as a child. Leaving Badminton School at sixteen, she studied at the Slade School of Art in London from 1932 to 1936 under the theatre designer Vladimir Polunin, who had worked with the Ballets Russes. She painted sets for professional performances at Sadlers Wells, but decided against stage design as a career.

    Mary Fedden was one of Britain's finest and best loved contemporary artists. She was born on 14th August 1915 in Bristol and was married to the artist Julian Trevelyan. She studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, London from 1932 to 1936. She went on to teach Painting at the Royal College of Art from 1958 to 1964 where she was the first woman tutor to teach in the Painting School.
