N. Hanumiah was born 5th September 1909 and died 4th January 1991, aged 81. He graduated from the Chamajendra Institute of Technology at Mysore (CTI) in 1934, where he specialised in landscape painting. He was best known for his work in oil painting but completed many fine works in watercolours (and at least one study in gouache!).
