Joseph Nieminski was born and raised in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. He became interested in scenic design as a school boy watching illusionistic scenery painted on the stage at Parish Hall for Becker Brothers Studio. Nieminski attended the School of the Art Institute (1955-1959) and earned a BFA in Advertising Design.

Joseph Nieminski (Bio as of December 2000) Joseph Nieminski has designed primarily in the Chicago area since his graduation from the Goodman School of Drama in 1970. Along with the design for A Christmas Carol, his Goodman credits include The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui and Design for Living, both of which won Jeff Awards.
