Paul has worked with metal most of his life. He started focusing on metal art in 2002 and sold almost everything at art and craft shows. He named his new business Paul's Metal Petals, because everything he made—the threadholders, wine holders, and paper towel holders —had petals. Paul had the idea for coneflower threadholders in 2005, and they became his first nationally selling product.
