    Wood was born on August 29, 1922, in Kingsville, ON, Canada. He was the son of Albert G., an architect and Louise Wood. He married Jacqueline Stark, a pianist, on September 4, 1953. Wood attended Grand Central School of Art, 1938, New School for Social Research, 1939, and Art Students League in New York from 1939-41 and 1946-47.
